FDA approves orlistat (Xenical), the first lipase-inhibitor weight drug
Orlistat 120 mg is approved for adults with a BMI of 30 or greater, or 27 or greater with risk factors, and for patients 12 and older. It remains the only approved weight drug that works entirely in the gut rather than the brain.
