SCALE Maintenance shows liraglutide holds off regained weight

In 422 adults who had already lost at least 5% on a low-calorie diet, liraglutide 3.0 mg produced a further 6.2% loss over 56 weeks versus 0.2% on placebo, and 81.4% kept off the run-in loss versus 48.9%.

DURATION-6 publishes: weekly exenatide loses to daily liraglutide

The Lancet published a 911-patient head-to-head trial in which liraglutide 1.8 mg daily lowered A1C by 1.48 points versus 1.28 for exenatide extended-release 2 mg weekly. Exenatide failed to meet the trial's predefined noninferiority criteria, though it caused far less nausea (9 versus 21 percent). It was the first clear sign that the exendin-based drugs would lose to the human GLP-1 analogs.
