Berberine matches metformin on glucose control in a 36-patient pilot
Yin, Xing and Ye publish in Metabolism a three-month randomized pilot comparing berberine 500 mg three times daily with metformin 500 mg three times daily in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes. Hypoglycemic effects are similar, and berberine outperforms metformin on triglycerides and total cholesterol. This single small study underpins most later 'nature's Ozempic' marketing.
