Liraglutide lowers A1C more than exenatide in 26-week head-to-head trial
In a 26-week trial of 464 adults with type 2 diabetes, liraglutide 1.8 mg once daily cut A1C by 1.12 percentage points versus 0.79 points for exenatide 10 micrograms twice daily. More liraglutide patients reached an A1C below 7% (54% versus 43%), nausea was less persistent, and minor low blood sugar was less frequent. Weight loss was similar between the two drugs.
